The Capability Maturity ModelThe Capability Maturity Model (CMM) is a model that provides a basis to evaluate the "maturity" of a software organization. Each "maturity level" is a well defined evolutionary plateau in the progress toward achieving the ultimate in software development process. Each level in the model comprises a set of process goals that, when satisfied, stabilize the operation of a software development organization and provides for maximum effectiveness for the development operations.
The CMM was developed by the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie-Mellon University. It is used as a world standard for software operations evaluation. For more information, please see the SEI website at Software Engineering Institute. |
